The magnetic pull of the moon is weak,
but when the Apollo moon mission
recovered rocks, it was discovered
that in the past, they were magnetized.
To scientists, this was a mystery.

Novel research has now solved
this mystery. In the study, researchers
believe that the moon may have had
a magnetic field generated by the core.
It’s also possible that the moon could
have been stronger than that of Earth’s.

Benjamin Weiss, the co-author of the
novel says that Earth’s magnetic field
is currently 50 microteslas. The early
magnetic field of the moon is thought
to have been 70 microteslas.

It’s still being theorized, why the moon
had such a strong magnetic field, but such
small core.
